Where has the time gone?
Where has August gone? It seems like just last week I was cleaning up from Chasen's Birthday party and since then Justin has kissed a pig, our tomato plants were taken over by tobacco worms, and Chasen saw a severed head boiling in a pot of water....don't ask!
School is back in session and everyone has been super busy since then. Chasen is adjusting to Kindergarten. He had a ROUGH first week, lots of tears and screaming. He was screaming, I was crying. The tears have subsided but he still is getting into his share of mischief. But I can tell that he is learning a lot because he comes home singing songs about the months of the year and he knows more numbers and letters than he did this summer. I work with him every night on one subject or another as part of his homework. He really enjoys our Skittle Math nights where we count, sort, compare, and make patterns with Skittles! I am back to work as well and so far, so good. My classes are different this year in the level of students I'm teaching and the schedule of periods. I get to see the kids more often instead of the block periods we use to have. I am trying all new materials and strategies this year and so far everything has been running smoothly!
We attended the Big Haynes Creek Festival in Conyers over the weekend. I don't know if we would go to it again. They had some neat animals and Chasen got to pet some crazy kangaroo/squirrel/rabbit thing from Australia. But overall it seemed to be a place for vendors to try to sell their overpriced goods and charge you outrageous prices to jump in their bouncy houses. Plus the heat and humidity didn't liven the mood either! Next weekend we are having Chasen's friend stay over for a sleepover. I think they will have a blast, the question is if they will fall asleep!
