Myrtle Beach Vacation Part 3

OK, I loaded these pictures backwards in time so please forgive me! This will be my last post about our vacation but I wanted to show off the resort we stayed at with our friends. The Sheraton Broadway Resort had a kiddie pool section that had a pirate ship and octopus slide. It also had a big water slide where the kids slide down one by one and land in a big pool of water. The kids had a great time while the adults enjoyed their margaritas! There were many other pools at the resort as well and we spent our evenings swimming with Chasen and Sophia and floating around the lazy river. The resort also had mini-golf and Chasen got to play golf for the first time. The bubblegum machine picture is from the way home, but I thought it was worth posting since that piece of bubble gum was the only souvenir we bought from Myrtle Beach!

Myrtle Beach Vacation Part 2

The second beach day was quite an adventure! The plan was to go to the south side of Myrtle Beach where a boardwalk connected two fishing piers. I thought Justin could fish and the rest of us would go to the beach or the shops on the boardwalk. Justin put in the 2nd Avenue pier into the GPS and we ended up 8 miles south of our destination, and not even at a pier! Talking to a police officer on the beach, it's a common mistake with GPS systems. Even though we left 30 minutes ahead of our friends they ended up beating us to the beach and set up right in the middle of the boardwalk. This made the fishing piers way to far to walk to so Justin didn't get to fish on this vacation at all! The south side of Myrtle Beach was VERY touristy and crowded. We had some beach time and then took the kids to a giant ferris wheel. The seats were enclosed and air conditioned so it was almost worth the money it cost just to be chilled for 5 minutes!

Myrtle Beach Vacation Part 1

Our family went to Myrtle Beach for a 3 day getaway with our friends the Larsens. We stayed at a very nice resort and spent two days playing in the surf. We did some other things, but you will have to wait for another post to see what else we did! These pictures are from the first day at the beach. We went to the north side of Myrtle Beach in the hopes of going fishing at the pier. But the winds were too strong to fish and the kids weren't able to go into the waves too far so we stayed in the sand- Sophia didn't like it when the sand moved beneath her feet with the waves. The funniest part of the trip was right before we left the beach I took Sophia to the bathroom to do a diaper change and found her toothbrush in her bathing suit! She likes to put things down her shirts and obviously wanted to make sure that she had clean teeth on our beach trip!

Liv'n the Conyers life

This summer we have really gotten into attending activities around Conyers centered on kids. One of these activities was a "Hero Day" where Chasen got to meet police and paramedics and learn about bicycle safety. He had a good time riding his bike around the Olde Town pavilion and racing the other kids through the obstacle course. He was even able to tour an ambulance! We also attended the "Crazy Art Day" where the kids were encouraged to splatter paint on canvases to create a unique painting. Chasen had a good time doing this and we now have a one-of-a-kind masterpiece on our mantle! We have also been attending puppets/magicians/jugglers and other performing artists at the local libraries. All except for one were great shows! For the record, I don't think holding cardboard cutouts in front of you and talking with your mouth open can really be considered puppetry...
