Happy birthday America!
The 4th of July started off quiet but finished up with a bang!
The Millers had a 4th party, their first since I have known them. The festivities didn't start until 7:00 so we just chilled around the house for most of the day. Well, that's not exactly true. Chasen did more damage to his room than a tropical storm! Once we got to the party, it was the usual "Oh how cute is Sophia!" and of course Chasen was seeing all that he could get into. What's funny is that as soon as he got there, he went out in search of his books and sat Bonnie down to read to him!
Dinner was delicious. We ate a selection of appetizers and the main course was sliders and dogs. Now, we didn't eat until 10:00 PM which made me feel better about serving Father's Day dinner at 9:00 PM!
Silka brought over Alabama fireworks. There wasn't supposed to be any fireworks at the party, but everyone was told about that rule except for Silka! Chasen was very excited about the fireworks and he went down to the dock with Justin to light them. He sat pretty far back and was OK for the first lighting. But the second firework was so loud that he took off running to the house. Chasen came crying into my arms about the fireworks being too loud, that they scared him, and that Daddy should be in time out! After a few minutes he calmed down and was OK for the rest of the night. I commented to some of the guests that I was concerned that Chasen would be traumatized from his fireworks experience. They laughed and said he would be OK. Well, this morning as I turned on my coffee grinder Chasen covered his ears and yelled "Mommy, too loud!". Traumatized? Maybe, but at least he didn't put me in time out!
More pictures of the party can be seen on Shutterfly.
