Arrgh....Birthday Booty!

Arrgh Mate! Pirate Chasen celebrated his 4 year old birthday this night and had a jolly-roger of a time!

Even though he claims he's only one, Chasen is turning four on Wednesday! We had his party early since he starts school next Thursday. We had the family over for a Pirate Party, complete with a treasure hunt! Chasen really loved the treasure hunt! Justin did a great job setting it up by taking pictures and leaving clues for Chasen to find. The final clue led Chasen to his treasure of presents! He got a lot of pirate booty as well as fire truck, ambulance, doctor, and military toys! And we can't forget Toy Story and Spiderman (Chasen's favorite super-hero)! We decided to make this party more laid back than usual and ordered pizza, which also happens to be one of Chasen's favorite foods. No cooking and no clean up with the pirate party paper plates! What a great night! I posted some pictures on Shutterfly. I tried to post just the ones that showed Chasen's face instead of the top of his head as he opened his gifts!

The Dynamic Duo

Aren't these kids cute?!?

I have to say that I am so proud of how Chasen is with his baby sister Sophia. Chasen LOVES Sophia! He is always kissing and hugging her. He watches out for her and tries to calm her when she cries. It's so funny, he has a little routine of songs that he uses! First he starts with "Twinkle Twinkle", then he goes to "Row-Row Your Boat", followed by "Up on the Housetop"! Useually by the time he is singing ho-ho-ho she has calmed down. Chasen even plays well with her and reads her stories. Of course he like it when she has her own toys and doesn't play with his toys...a little preview of sibling rilvary to come. But he usually lets her eat his toys after we ask him to share!

Sophia Rap

Sophia has really gotten in touch with her "Inner Rap-Star" via this video!

If you don't hear the sound, make sure that your "codec" is up to date!

In other Soapy news...Sophia went to the doctor this week for her 6 month shots. She weighs 14 lbs and 10 oz and is 24 3/4 inches tall! The doctor said she was right on target with her growth and she only cried for a few seconds after the shots! We have the most perfect baby in the world!

Happy birthday America!

The 4th of July started off quiet but finished up with a bang!

The Millers had a 4th party, their first since I have known them. The festivities didn't start until 7:00 so we just chilled around the house for most of the day. Well, that's not exactly true. Chasen did more damage to his room than a tropical storm! Once we got to the party, it was the usual "Oh how cute is Sophia!" and of course Chasen was seeing all that he could get into. What's funny is that as soon as he got there, he went out in search of his books and sat Bonnie down to read to him!

Dinner was delicious. We ate a selection of appetizers and the main course was sliders and dogs. Now, we didn't eat until 10:00 PM which made me feel better about serving Father's Day dinner at 9:00 PM!

Silka brought over Alabama fireworks. There wasn't supposed to be any fireworks at the party, but everyone was told about that rule except for Silka! Chasen was very excited about the fireworks and he went down to the dock with Justin to light them. He sat pretty far back and was OK for the first lighting. But the second firework was so loud that he took off running to the house. Chasen came crying into my arms about the fireworks being too loud, that they scared him, and that Daddy should be in time out! After a few minutes he calmed down and was OK for the rest of the night. I commented to some of the guests that I was concerned that Chasen would be traumatized from his fireworks experience. They laughed and said he would be OK. Well, this morning as I turned on my coffee grinder Chasen covered his ears and yelled "Mommy, too loud!". Traumatized? Maybe, but at least he didn't put me in time out!

More pictures of the party can be seen on Shutterfly.
