Little Fireman

Last Saturday at the local shopping center there was a benefit for a policeman who was killed in the line of duty in Rockdale. The fire department and police department were both out there and kids were free to explore the trucks and cars. As soon as I saw this I rushed home to get the firemen's #1 fan-Chasen! Chasen was so excited that he put on all of his fire gear and was ready to roll! The firemen were so excited to see Chasen all decked out in his fireman outfit that they let him loose on the truck! They let him wear the head phones and talke to him through them. One of the firemen let Chasen wear his mask and another fireman let Chasen sound the siren! Chasen got to wear a real helmet and put on real boots and pants. "Too big" and "Too heavy" was what he thought about them, but he was excited none the less. He also had a chance to get in the back of a police car, but he wasn't too impressed with that. I don't think he really understands the point of the backseat and we hope he never will have to sit there again! I think if he could, Chasen would say that last Saturday was the best day of his life!

Growing like our lawn....like a weed!

Sophia is four months old now and went in for her checkup with Daddy as well as another round of shots! She weighs 12 lbs 3 oz (25 %-tile) and is 24 1/4 inches long (50 %-tile). I was actually shocked. I thought she would be higher in the percentiles for weight and lower for height. But it looks like it's the opposite! She has really been "waking up" more and is more interactive. She coos and laughs and squeels! She also likes to reach for objects and of course test them out to see if they are tasty! She's still a good girl and sleeps through the night but lately she has been waking up earlier. She use to sleep in until 8 or 9 am but now she's waking up at 6:30 am. Chasen is being such a good big brother too. He is always showering her with kisses and helping Justin tend to her during the day. The only complaint I have is that he has to poke his head into every picture I try to take of her!

No excuses!

Ok, I know. I haven't blogged in a long time! No excuses....but did you know we had two kids? WOW! They are real time-suckers! Really cute ones of course!

A lot has happened since my last blog. My work threw me a baby shower. It was very nice since I didn't have any other shower for Sophia. She got lots of diapers and cute summer outfits. Some of the pictures are posted on Shutterfly now.

We took Sophia to Heritage Hills for the baby dedication. That was quite an eventful morning! The dress that I was going to put her in ended up looking more like a shirt than a dress so at the last minute I changed her into her "party dress" that the Millers had given her. We ran out of the house with no binky (mistake number one) and didn't have a burp cloth either (mistake number two). When we got to the church, Sophia was extremely fussy and kept spitting up all over her dress! Of course, we had nothing to soothe her with or to clean up the mess! We went through about twenty tissues before the service even began! But by the time we had to stand in front of the church, she had figured out that her hand was really good to suck on so she was a good girl for the dedication. Afterwards, we enjoyed tacos with my family at our favorite Mexican cantina!

My classes at Georgia State are over on Monday (YEAH!) and I got my scores back from my Science GACE......I passed! With flying colors as well! I actually did better on this test than my math or social studies tests. Go figure! So on paper, it looks like I should teach science! I think I'll stick with math for a little while longer though.
