Bubble Boy aka Cookie Monster!

Chasen loves bubbles! And Chasen loves chasing bubbles! It's easy to forget how fun the simple things are....
Chasen started preschool this week. We met his teacher Ms. Ginger on Monday and are very excited to have her as a teacher. Chase will be going two times a week to the church preschool and learning his colors, shapes, and letters (hopefully). They seem really organized this year, providing calendars for the parents that cover what concepts were taught so that we can help out at home. Justin took Chasen to open-house to introduce him to Ms. Ginger. He said Chase ran around exploring and getting into everything-of course! He also turned into the "Cookie Monster" and stole the other kid's cookies off their plates! I guess Ms. Ginger will have to add "share" as one of September's topics!
I have started back for fall semester at GSU. I only go downtown on Tuesday nights, but I get home after 10:00. I am also taking an online course and I also have things that I will have to do with a supervisor and a mentor evaluating me teaching at my school. One of the classes I am taking is about teaching science. I'm very interested in this, but nervous too because I don't know as much about teaching science. I feel that it is something that I would like to try one day. When I was a student at Georgia College I loved biology so much that I thought I was going to major in it. I started to, but chemistry and anatomy kicked my butt so I changed to business! I think it would be fun to teach science since I loved learning about it so much. When I am done with my program, I will be eligible to teach it, as long as I pass the state GACE exam in science. I'm a little nervous about that, since middle grades science covers earth, life, and physical science. I have already borrowed a textbook from my school to brush up. Some nice bedtime reading....

Chasen's Famous Hat

Justin's cousin Amy sent out some great pictures of her family taken with her fancy SLR camera. I was amazed at the quality! Justin challenged me to take pictures with our own camera-our camera is no SLR, but with a combination of two high-powered software programs, Picassa and Adobe CS2 this is what I can do! This is Chasen with his favorite hat on. We got this hat in Destin at the Bass Pro Shop and he won't go anywhere without it! He wears it almost every day, but these are the first pictures I have of him in it. You wouldn't know it but I took these in our messy living room and by the front door! BTW-Chasen's not missing an arm, he's got it inside his overall's scratching his tummy!

Elephant Days of Summer

We discovered about two weeks ago that if we moved Chase's baby pool up onto the deck, than Chase got a lot more play time in the pool without getting grass stuck to his wet body! Plus it gives him something to do while we grill out. The bonus is that some days when it's really hot I'll get in the pool myself and hang out outside, which I normally don't do in July/August. I wish we had thought of this idea earlier in the summer. We got him this elephant pool to upgrade him from his baby pool and he has so much fun with it! He jumps all over it, sprays mom and dad with the elephant's trunk, and of course slides into the pool. Justin has been having water balloon fights with him the past week as well, so our back deck is one big water adventure!
School is going well. I'm finishing off my 2nd week back. I will be gone all of next week doing testing for all of Newton's middle schools in math and reading. I hope that when I get back, my kids are still behaving as well as they were this week before I left!

Chasen is 2!!

Chasen turned 2 years old on July 28th. We had our parents over for a make-your-own pizza night and finished off with ice cream and cupcakes! Sorry, none of the pictures really turned out well. Most of them were just the top of Chasen's head while he opened up presents!
We took him to the doctor's office and he weighed 28 pounds and was 35.5 inches tall. He squeezed by not getting his shots (again) because they were out. But we will keep calling to see if we can get him his boosters!
School started on Friday and it was a mess! I'm not sure if it is like this everywhere, but so many kids didn't have their schedules right! I only had 2 kids show up to one of my classes. So, Friday was a bit of a waste of time! I hope everything gets figured out and my classes are full on Monday. I hate repeating myself! I've already been out today and spent my "Sonny Money". The Governor gives teachers $100 to spend on school supplies. The stores are packed this weekend because it's also tax-free weekend. I was at the School Box in line for 30 minutes! I picked up some really cool games though and will use them in my class as a reward for good behavior!
