Happy Thankgsiving!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours was a little rough, but we were still happy to be off of work and with our son and family. Chasen was sick this week (and still is a bit). Justin caught a mild cold and passed it on to Chasen. It's just hard not to hold and kiss your own baby I guess! Chasen didn't get sick until Wednesday, in the middle of his Christmas photo shoot! The photo shoot was a disaster! He wouldn't stand still, he wouldn't sit down, he tried to tear up the set, and cried and cried. Then, any decent picture had snot coming out of his nose or showed how red his eyes were from crying! This is one of his pictures, since it's online and not in high quality you can't see his sticky-icky face!

Thanksgiving dinner was very good. We had all the family over including a Miller family friend, Jim. we had a delicious turkey Justin cooked, stuffing, sweet potato and baked apples, green beans, creamed corn, mashed potato, and cranberry. Not to mention all the appetizers and desserts! We ate like kings! We have enough leftovers to feed a small army!

It's hard to believe that we only have 3 days left until we have to go back to work. Time sure flies! But, the good thing is we just have to hang on for 3 more weeks and then we are off again! It's time to start decorating for Christmas now!

One wild and crazy boy!

Chasen went to a fun birthday party today. The party was at "My Gym" and he played and played! He loved the ball tub (obviously) and liked to climb and slide. I was pretty surprised at what he could do! He climbed right up a ladder going straight up in the air without any help! He also did well on a steep slide all by himself -though mommy was scared! He also went over to a basketball hoop and threw balls right in! Where did that come from? We don't have a basketball goal anywhere! So, obviously he will be the next NBA star!?! One thing we did notice was how he wasn't involved with any "group" activities. The daycare he goes to once a week had mentioned that to me. Now I see what they mean! We had to keep chasing after him to join in the group fun. He would stay for a while, but then run off to do his own thing. He was the only kid there though who was dancing! He LOVES music! He just danced and danced, clapping to the music. Too cute! My wish did NOT come true though of him falling asleep on the way home. He cried and whined, he still is in his crib right now though. Poor buddy is too tired from missing two of his naps today!

Thanksgiving Indian?

I stole this picture of Chasen's bath mo-hawk from Silka's myspace page.....thanks Silk!
Well, I got accepted to Georgia State for their master's program in middle school education. Woo hoo! I've been trying to get in contact with my advisor so that I can register for classes but I have still not heard back from them. Classes are filling up! I also found out that if I can get financial aid I can get the federal government to clear my debts just by working in the school system like I am now. But because I just found this out (I wasn't planning on using financial aid) I won't be able to get financial aid until summer quarter. But I HAVE to start school spring quarter or they revoke my acceptance! What to do? I'm hoping that I can just take one class just to keep in the school and to reduce the amount I have to pay out of pocket that won't be paid for by Uncle Sam. Hopefully I can pull that off! Though the school said that they have strict rules on the order of classes....funny since my advisor seems to be ignoring me! A lot of what ifs......
Justin and I are off this week for Thanksgiving break. Boy I needed it! I'm excited too because once we go back, I only have to work for 3 weeks and then I am off for 2 more weeks! The kids are getting crazy! I need some time off to be with people I don't have to "write up"! We are having Thanksgiving here. I am almost ready! Hopefully we can get all the shopping done tomorrow and Monday and relax the rest of the week. We have already done some home improvement this weekend and hung a microwave under our new cabinets that we installed earlier this week. Phase I complete! We are slowly redoing our kitchen. Our next step is to get the lower cabinets that go with new set. Then we need new countetops, a faux finish on the cabinets, new hardware, a new sink and faucet, new backsplash, and new floors! That's not too much to ask for is it?
Tomorrow we are going to Chasen's friend Emily's birthday party at "My Gym". It should be interesting. It's a gym for babies where they get to run wild and climb on stuff. He should have a good time. He loves to just run around like a chicken (or rooster) and climb things like a monkey! I just hope he wears himself out for a nice nap home in the car!

Miller Time

We've had a busy weekend, and I imagine they are going to be busy until January!
Saturday Chasen and I went to a chili cook off in Cabbage Town where our friends Lisa and Carson had entered their yummy chili. It was packed!! Lisa and I enjoyed sampling some interesting chili specimens. Some were good, some needed to get their money back and not come back next year! Chasen had fun running around and playing on the playground. He's still small for the playground but we were able to do a few things, including swing.
Then, Saturday night we went over to the Miller's for dinner. It was a bit of a farewell dinner for Silka since we have now kicked her out of the family....just kidding! She has taken a new job and is moving to Texas on Monday. We hope she enjoys her time there, unlike her stay in Albany, NY. It's a good thing the Miller's are an airline family, we might actually see more of her now when she gets homesick! Chasen sat at the dinner table like a big boy, but he didn't act like one. I can't wait until he stop throwing things on the floor!
Our front steps were ripped up and rebuilt thanks to my endearing father. They look great! And we can climb up them now! We used them to bring the groceries in today-what a difference! The old stairs were so narrow, not to mention loose. Our new stairs are wider and made of the same composite material our back deck is. So we will never have to worry about painting or finishing them. Thanks dad!

Trick or Treat!

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween! We took Chasen to his first "trunk or treat" at my mom's church. It was huge! They had a beach theme and there was sand everywhere. He loved it! He especially loved the trunk where the Beach Boys were playing on the radio. He was a groov'n little dinosaur! It's so funny watching him dance, surely in a dinosaur costume! He really enjoyed himself, and so did we.

When we came home we ordered pizza with my family and we sat out on the deck with our new heater dad bought. We gave Chasen a bath to get the sand off and I showed mom how I feed Chasen sometimes in the bath. I don't think she was too keen on that, but it gets the job done! Sometime nighttime comes quickly and there's no time (or patience from Chasen) for dinner AND a bath, so we do it all at once! He gets his meal which makes mom happy and a bath which makes baby happy! Who knows, it could be revolutionary!

We took C to the doctor today for his 15 month checkup. I'm not so sure about them. We were there an hour before we saw the doctor. Almost two hours by the time we left. Chasen was hysterical because he was so tired from missing a nap. He weighed 23 pounds 8 oz and is in they SAID it was 90% percentile for weight! Which is odd since we weighed 23 lbs at 12 months as was 50%. And, the pediatric book I have at home says less than 50%. He was 31 1/2 inches long-60% for height. So we have either a bad nurse here, or a bad nurse at our old doctor. Guess we will start looking for someone else. So someone somewhere doesn't know how to weight a baby! The doctor also thinks Chasen is going to be a late talker-more around 2 and a half years than 18 months. He says it's common in boys-they are about 50/50. Some start talking about 18 months and the other half about 2 and a half. That's ok with us. I'm sure when he does start talking, it will be proper English and highly intelligent!
