There's no stopping him now!

Chasen is really walking now! We can't get him to sit down!
It's amazing how quickly they progress. A few weeks ago it was just a couple of steps, now he walks all day long! He's even getting his 5th tooth in. Any day now! This picture was taken at my mom's house where he was showing off. you can see he has fun over there, look at all those toys!

Chasen was also a local celebrity this week! 11-alive had a picture of him from his first birthday on the morning news Thursday and Friday he was in the Rockdale Citizen newspaper for his birthday. My mom sent both of those off-thank you! It was a lot of fun to see our baby on tv!

Well, I've had my week working with 6th graders. What a big difference between 6th and 8th grade! I have to say, I prefer the 8th graders! I think I have a lot of patience, but the 6th graders are wearing on what little I have left! And don't even get me started on their math skills! What were they doing for the last 5 years?

I've also just realized that our web page is broken! How long has that been going on? This blog is the only thing that still pulls up! Justin says it's because he needs a new computer, although his myspace accont seems to be flourishing?!? We will be taking donations at.......

He's a Walker!

Chasen started walking this week! He took his first "steps" a week after his birthday. But in the last few days, he has really gotten the courage to let go and take off. He can walk clear across the living room now, stand there for a while, and turn back again. Of course, he's not that great at it all the time-lots of tumbles and falls. But nothing too serious yet. He knows what he's doing is cool too. When he gets done with a walking bit, he turns and smiles! We clap for him and he just giggles! Next thing you know, he will be riding a bike!

Justin's finger is doing better. He went to a doctor on Monday who glued him shut and wrapped the finger pretty tightly. It will be a while till the bandages come off, but at least he doesn't have to dress it himself. That was the worst part.

I get my sixth graders for the first time tomorrow at school. So, I teach 8th and 6th now. I'm honestly not looking forward to this group. I have been handed a stack full of papers on the kids in my class-LOTS of behaviour issues. And from what I've observed of the sixth graders-they are the worst bunch to handle. They are just all over the place and unable to concentrate. I don't remember being so immature at that age, though I'm sure my mom has her own opinion on that one!

And the hits keep coming...

So, Friday was an adventure for the Millers!

First off, I was told that I would be starting my job full time on Monday. (Silent YEAH!) I'm happy for the increase in income, sad because it means I don't get to see Chasen as much. I don't know what classes I will take on yet, but I am really excited.

Justin celebrated the news by slicing off half of his finger-tip at work. He was changing a computer battery and there was a sharp edge. Next thing he knew, a piece of his finger tip was on the floor! He had to go to the doctor and will see a hand specialist on Monday. You never know how useful your fingers are until you can't use one!

Chasen also had an interesting day, he had his one year check up. He's 23 lbs and 30 inches long. The doctor preformed an iron test by pricking Chase's toe and squeezing the blood out. Chase didn't even flinch, he actually thought it was very interesting what this hairy man was doing to his toes! The doctor said he was a little low on iron, but nothing to worry about. He gave us a prescription for iron drops so that should solve the problem. Perhaps it's due to switching to whole milk, or the fact that he is a picky eater now. We will be pumping him full of iron now! He also had an extra round of shots-ouch! He has been cranky ever since. I hope he is better before Monday's drop off at Grammy's!
