New Web Site!

Hope everyone likes our new web site. It's a work in progress! We will be working on www.justinandjacinda.com this week so that you have something NEW to look at. You like the lemons and limes? They make me thirsty for a margarita! Hopefully I can finally get "Dad" to post all the great pics of our new family instead of just being able to see the few that I post on the blog. And there are a lot of pictures! Maybe we can even figure out how to include video.....now that would be neat. Don't get your hopes up! We might not figure it out, and even if we do you might not think it's all that great! So far I have video of Chasen sitting, sitting, jumping, sitting, and eating! Whoo hoo! It's like he starts acting so cute and when I break out the video camera he freezes up! I just hope I can remember all the cute things he does. Our parents tell us they don't remember too much of us as babies. I find that sad, but I know that time makes the brain fuzzy! I hope between the videos, the pictures, and the blogs that I can "keep" some of these moments with me for a long time.

I look just like my Daddy!

I had to get a picture of Chase with his new facial hair (aka carrots). Doesn't he look just like Justin? This was actually an interesting meal. When I can, I have started making my own baby food. It's a lot cheaper than the store-bought and sometimes even better! This was my experiment with carrots. Problem was, I just couldn't get them mushy enough. I also thought I would add grapes, and they didn't mash too well either. There was a moment where I had a "Child Safety" class flash-back. But Chase recovered and everything's ok. But lesson learned, I'm going to have to do better with carrots next time!

Chasen had his first get together with a baby only 12 days younger the other day. They loved each other! He was petting her and holding her hand! I had no idea babies this young would be interested in other babies but he sure took a fancy to this little one! We hope they have more play dates to come.

Spring is just around the corner and we can't wait! I would love to go back to walking in our neighborhood with the baby. It's just been so cold lately. We are getting our garden ready for spring too and working hard! We still have a lot to do, I hope we have time before everything comes back "alive" and makes it harder! I've decided I'm going to win the weed battle this year!

50% Baby

Chasen scored a 50% on his height and weight at his 6 month checkup. Sounds bad, but it's really 50 percentile, so he is right in the middle of other babies his age. Not too big, not too small-JUST RIGHT!! He now weighs 16 lbs 14 ounce and is 26 1/2 inches tall. The doctor said everything was going well and of course he got another round of shots (ouch).

It's amazing watching this little "blank slate" develop right before your eyes. Every week he comes up with a new sound. His favorite right now is inhaling while making a screech, I think he sounds like a hawk. He has also started adding some consonants. Like tonight he was "saying" words with the "g" and "d"sound. Nothing distinguishable yet (though Justin is trying to get him to say daddy) but I think it will be soon. Justin is also trying to teach Chasen to crawl. No news there yet, but the added tummy time is really helping.

I'm still job hunting. I've picked up some hours working at Sylvan part time. But I really need to find a full time position with benefits somewhere. It breaks my heart to think that I will have to be away from the baby for so long, but we really need the money and insurance that a full time position offers. Paying out for private insurance is expensive!! (Though, cheaper than being caught without it in an emergency.) Plus, if I keep this mystery job until baby #2 we won't be paying so much out of pocket like we are now, plus maternity leave! No one was paying me to be off this round!
